0Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting a business's systems, data, and accounts from unauthorized access, theft, or disruption. For most small and mid-sized businesses, that means things like securing logins, keeping software patched, protecting customer data, and having a plan for what happens if something does go wrong. It's often treated as an afterthought until an incident happens, even though most breaches at smaller businesses come from basic gaps rather than sophisticated attacks.
Whether you're worried your business is exposed and don't know where to start, need a specific security gap fixed or assessed, or want to learn the basics of protecting your own systems, Toskie TeamUp gives you a direct path to real collaborators instead of a cold job posting. Browse actual profiles and case studies, filter for the kind of collaboration you need, whether that's TeamUp for a specific project or Mentor for building the knowledge in-house, and start the conversation yourself. If you're the one with cybersecurity expertise rather than the one looking for it, you can set up a collaborator profile and start hearing directly from people who need it.
Toskie makes it easier to find and connect with skilled professionals for exactly what you need.
Discover — Search for Cybersecurity collaborators based on the skill or requirement you have in mind.
Filter — Narrow things down using details like skills, experience, and location.
Review — Look through a collaborator's profile to get a real sense of their background and what they've actually done.
Connect — Reach out to the people who seem like a genuine fit for your requirement.
Collaborate — Talk through the project, define what you actually need, and start working together once it feels like the right match.
Whether you're looking for a Cybersecurity collaborator nearby or someone with a very specific kind of expertise, Toskie helps take the guesswork out of finding them and starting the conversation.
A cybersecurity collaborator on Toskie TeamUp assesses, hardens, and monitors a business's systems so gaps get closed before they turn into real incidents.
Reviewing current systems and practices to find weak points, like exposed accounts or outdated software, before someone else finds them first.
Setting up how logins, permissions, and multi-factor authentication actually work across the business, since weak access controls are one of the most common ways businesses get compromised.
Building a clear plan for what happens if something does go wrong, so a breach doesn't turn into a prolonged crisis with no one sure what to do next.
Teaching a team the basics, like spotting phishing attempts, since human error is behind a large share of small business security incidents, not just technical flaws.
Toskie lets you look through a collaborator's background and past work before you reach out, and starting that first conversation doesn't cost anything. Since small businesses are frequent targets precisely because attackers assume fewer defenses are in place, the priority isn't finding the most advanced setup, it's closing the basic gaps that get exploited most often.
Practical, business-sized recommendations — a good collaborator scales their advice to your actual size and risk, rather than proposing enterprise-level infrastructure you don't need.
Clear incident response guidance — ask whether they'll help you build an actual plan for a breach, not just prevention measures.
Relevant industry experience — a business handling customer payment data has different risk exposure than one that doesn't, so ask about experience with businesses like yours.
Ongoing versus one-time engagement — clarify whether the work is a single assessment or something that needs revisiting as your systems and risks change.
Small businesses are frequent targets precisely because attackers know they typically have fewer security resources than larger companies. Even basic protective steps, like better access controls and staff training, meaningfully reduce risk.
Toskie doesn't set or process rates. Pricing and terms are agreed directly between you and the collaborator you connect with, based on the scope you define.
No. Toskie facilitates the connection; any commercial or payment terms are arranged directly between you and the collaborator.
