0An iOS developer builds apps specifically for Apple devices, usually working in Swift, the native programming language for iOS. That native focus lets an app take full advantage of the platform, from performance to the latest device features Apple releases, in ways a cross-platform build often can't match right away. iOS developers typically also handle App Store submission, which comes with its own review process and requirements separate from Android.
Whether you're building an app exclusively for iPhone or iPad and want it to feel truly native, need an existing iOS app improved or maintained, or want to learn iOS development yourself, Toskie TeamUp gives you a direct path to real collaborators instead of a cold job posting. Browse actual profiles and case studies, filter for the kind of collaboration you need, whether that's TeamUp for a full build or Mentor for learning Swift and iOS development, and start the conversation yourself. If you're the one with iOS development expertise rather than the one looking for it, you can set up a collaborator profile and start hearing directly from people who need it.
Toskie makes it easier to find and connect with skilled professionals for exactly what you need.
Discover — Search for iOS Developer collaborators based on the skill or requirement you have in mind.
Filter — Narrow things down using details like skills, experience, and location.
Review — Look through a collaborator's profile to get a real sense of their background and what they've actually done.
Connect — Reach out to the people who seem like a genuine fit for your requirement.
Collaborate — Talk through the project, define what you actually need, and start working together once it feels like the right match.
Whether you're looking for an iOS Developer nearby or someone with a very specific kind of expertise, Toskie helps take the guesswork out of finding them and starting the conversation.
An iOS developer collaborator on Toskie TeamUp builds, optimizes, and ships apps that take full advantage of what Apple's platform actually offers.
Writing the app using Swift so it runs at full native performance and can use the latest iOS capabilities as soon as Apple releases them.
Wiring up hardware and platform features like camera, Face ID, or ARKit where the app genuinely benefits from deep, native access rather than a generic wrapper.
Tuning the app so it runs smoothly and doesn't drain battery, which matters more on iOS given how tightly Apple's users expect apps to behave.
Handling Apple's review process and guidelines, which have their own specific requirements separate from Android, so launches don't get delayed by avoidable rejections.
Every collaborator profile on Toskie lets you look through actual shipped apps and background before you reach out, and starting that first conversation doesn't cost anything. Since native iOS development costs more than a cross-platform build, the real question worth settling early is whether your app actually needs that native performance, or whether it's paying for something you won't notice.
Whether native is actually justified for your app — a strong candidate can explain honestly whether your app needs native performance or would do fine cross-platform, rather than defaulting to Swift because that's what they know.
Shipped App Store history — ask to see apps they've actually taken through Apple's review process, not just code samples.
Device feature depth — if your app depends on hardware features like camera or biometrics, confirm direct experience implementing those specifically.
Post-launch maintenance plans — ask how they handle new iOS releases, since Apple updates the platform yearly and apps need upkeep to keep pace.
It depends on what the app needs to do. Native iOS development is worth the extra cost when performance, deep hardware access, or day-one support for new iOS features genuinely matters. For simpler business apps or content platforms, cross-platform frameworks often perform close enough while costing less.
Native development requires platform-specific expertise and, if you also need Android, a separate build or developer for that platform. Cross-platform frameworks let one codebase and often one developer cover both, which is usually why it costs less upfront.
